Flamethrower

Over the course of 4 years, Caine and I have built increasingly powerful flamethrowers.

The Project

To build a fist mounted flamethrower that shoots, when you punch.

How does it work?

An IMU detects when a punch happens by reading acceleration values. It then tells the on-board computer to shoot a flame, by releasing the solenoid valve and sparking an arc lighter to start the flame.

The gas is butane, taken from any portable kitchen stove.

The flamethrower you see above is the original one, made of wood. Below is the latest version and was designed by Peter He and Cael Fitch, who interned with Mira over the summer.

The flamethrower

We realized quickly making it out of wood is NOT a good idea.
